VF-13 History

Shot down by AA fire over Yap. Made a water landing and waited for the rescue plan the following day. Floated in lift raft overnight. Used a lit cigarette to signal the rescue plane.

From Justin Taylan www.pacificwrecks.com: His carrier was the Franklin. He had 3 victories in WWII, all over Manila. Two Oscars on 10-15-44 and an Oscar prob. On 10-17, he got a Zeke over Manila.
