Unidentified Barge Wreckage Inside the Reef on the East Side of Yap Island
The engine is a Lister CE twin cylinder 12/16hp at 1000/1200 rpm. Lister-Blackstone variants were either USA-built by Nordberg, or sold by the marine division of Lister through the Lister-Blackstone setuop in the USA.

Throughout this years search trip we ask our Yapese guides to take us to all wreckage areas regardless if they thought the sites were Japanese. Last year we found out too late that the Yapese and others on the island were calling all the wreckage "Japanese". We skip a few sites last year because of this label and ended up missing a few American sites. The following pictures are from a wreckage area just inside the reef on the east side of Yap Island. The wreckage looks like a barge or ship due to the size of the engines. On one of the engine casing you can see the following writing, "...ister-Blackstone". It's missing the start of the first word; however, my guess is that a barge or ship hit the reef in this area years ago and all the remains is the large engines. Please let me know if you can help identify this wreckage.

The following information was received from Peter Forbes with http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel: The engine is a Lister CE twin cylinder 12/16hp at 1000/1200 rpm. Lister-Blackstone variants were either USA-built by Nordberg, or sold by the marine division of Lister through the Lister-Blackstone setuop in the USA. Age would be difficult to determine, except that ceased production in all areas by 1950 or so. If you were able to find the brass engine plate, we could give you a definite production site (Dursley UK or Nordberg USA, and a production year. This tag is normally on the other side to that shown on: http://www.missingaircrew.com/trip/barge/DSCN2886.JPG. Hope this helps, there is a bit on CE and the single cylinder CD on our website in the technical section, together with factory data sheets. Let me know if you need more information.
