I received an email last night that someone has located the combat report from the Japanese archives that related to my uncle’s shoot down over Yap on June 25, 1944. I have been trying to locate a complete report for years that might provide a location of the crash site!

Nine Japanese A6M of the 254th Kokutai, Five Japanese A6M of the 201st Kokutai, and three A6M (unit unknown) intercepted 21 B-24's over Yap on June 25, 1944. They claimed to have shot down one B-24 (my uncle’s plane).

I can hardly wait for the report to arrive from the archives. This is very exciting news!!
