Re: B-24 Wreckage Identified-Wood Blade Antenna & Mount

The pictures at the link below show a piece of blade antenna and mount that was found in the water within the B-24 wreckage area. At first we were unsure why the support bracket/mount had wood attached, however, once we returned to the US a number of sources provided information to identify the piece of wreckage as a blade antenna mast and mount. The 2 foot wooden aerial is broken off at surface near the mount. It is assumed that the antenna might be from the underside near the nose gear. Please see the pictures of the antenna on the Collings Foundation B-24 to visualize what the wreckage piece would have looked like while on the Anthony B-24.
