Here's the information about the Japanese units that attacked and shot down my uncle's B-24 (The Coleman Crew) on June 25, 1944:
According to a document for 61st Koku Sentai, a total of 17 Zekes intercepted 22 B24 in two formations at 1045(I) on June 25, 1944. Eight Zekes for 331 Ku participated in this interception. Claims one kill. A/F was slightly damaged.
According to the Kodo for 202Ku (K603), a total of 5 Zekes intercepted 22 B24 during 1040-1130 on June 25, 1944. The Ku claims one kill and two damaged. No loss for Japanese.
According to the Kodo for 202Ku (S301), a total of 4 Zekes intercepted 22 B24 during 1040-1130 on June 25,1944. The Ku claims one kill and two damaged. Two Zekes were holed but no loss to Japanese.
1045 22B24 in two groups attacked a/f on YAP. 17 Zekes intercepted them. Result 1 shot down, two damaged our damage... one Zeke holed, two Zekes on the ground holed. 2/3 of runway was bombed but
east half is usable.
