Lt. Sylor was lost 15 miles south of Yap Island on July 15, 1944 when the B-24 he was piloting collided with another B-24 while being chased by Japanese planes after a bombing run. All the men on his crew and the other B-24 remain missing in action. We visited the approximate site of the collision in 2006 and held a memorial service for one of the family members (Daughter of Sgt. William Edward Crowley-Sharon Crowley).
