Although we returned from Yap last September, I have finally found the time to post a number of pictures from the trip. We had a lot of success on the trip even though we did not locate my uncle’s missing B-24. We were able to find a new F6F-5 Hellcat crash site that likely belongs to an MIA case as well as the FG-1 Co...rsair flown by the highest ranking pilot shot down over Yap. We spent a lot of time searching for my uncle’s plane off the SE reef using side scanning sonar and other equipment supplied by the History Flight organization. In addition to our search efforts I taught daily WWII history classes to the Yap tourism industry sponsored by the Yap Visitors Bureau and delivered a number of WWII memorial signs, fact sheets and other materials that will be used to setup WWII tours in the future.
