You are here: Home | 307th BG Index | B-24 Pictures from Pete Johnston in Australia B-24 Pictures from Pete Johnston in Australia The following B-24 pictures were supplied by Pete Johnston from Australia. My uncle was lost in aircraft #44-40598. Pete was able to locate a picture of aircraft number #44-40597 (one off from my uncle's plane). Aircraft #597 was named the MASK-A-RAIDER and it flew with the 5th Bomb Group. This aircraft was likely right behind my uncle's on the assemble line in April 1944 when they were build by Consolidated Aircraft company. The reason we can’t locate pictures of my uncle’s plane (AC #44-40598) is likely because it only arrived in the Pacific a few days before it was shot down. My uncle's aircraft was shot down over Yap within a few weeks of being delivered to the 307th BG.
